Karisia Walking Safaris in Kenya

Albatros East Africa is extremely excited to offer active adventures and walking safaris with Karisia Walking Safaris. The walking safari can be booked as a week-long stand alone safari experience, or shorter walks can be built into a greater itinerary featuring other camps and lodges in the Laikipia area, Masai Mara, Samburu and destinations throughout Kenya.

Karisia specializes in tailor-made walking safaris, supported by camels, in Kenya including Karisia Hills, Laikipia, Samburu, Mt Kenya, the Aberdares and the Mathews Range. These multi-day safaris – ranging from 2 to 8 nights - are led by one of their many highly trained Samburu guides or (upon request) by Karisia owners and Kenyan born guides, Kerry Glen and James Christian. Both are excellent guides with extensive knowledge of Kenya and are great hosts.

Each safari can be tailored to match each individual’s physical capacity with walks ranging from 2 to 8 hours per day. Regardless of the amount of walking per day, a safari with Karisia offers a unique experience as you discover the raw intensity of the Kenyan bush as well as its sights, smells and sands. In the company of your guide and camel porters, you will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with nature and spot all the small things that you would normally miss on game drivers. As you spend several days with your Samburu guides, walking safaris with Karisia not only offer a closer and more authentic look at Kenya’s vast wildlife, bird and plant species but also a great insight into the Masai culture.

While on safari, Karisia uses a light weight mobile camp with traditional safari style tents reminiscent of the first African safaris. Each tent is simply but comfortably furnished with a mattress on the floor and a table, chair and basin outside which is filled with hot water every morning and evening. Behind each tent is a traditional safari shower and toilet, and hearty home cooked meals are prepared fresh daily and served under the stars.

For more details on booking Karisia Walking Safaris, ask Caroline at Albatros Travel's Nairobi office. She can also provide suggestions on how to create a greater Kenya itinerary for your clients including Karisia and other properties in the Laikipia region, Masai Mara and beyond.
