Navigating Sunset Cruises on the Zambezi - Part 1: Zimbabwean side

One of the truly iconic experiences based from Victoria Falls is the sunset cruise on the Zambezi. How do you know which is the right one for your travelers? Key sales points: Gentle, relaxing and typically African, the Zambezi River above the mighty Victoria Falls is an area of outstanding natural beauty offering a diversity of game and bird life. Large animals such as elephants, hippo and crocodiles are frequent sightings. The Zambezi River on the Zimbabwe side is bordered by the Zambezi National Park.

ZIMBABWE RIVER CRUISES

TRADITIONAL SUNDOWNER CRUISE 


Wild Horizons fleet consists of three traditional pontoon style boats.

1 x 80-seater double-decker cruise boat All boats have
2 x 60Hp four stroke marine motors
Seating is director’s chairs with teak tables

LUXURY VESSELS 

RA-IKANE 


Ra-Ikane is named after one of the guides who accompanied David Livingstone when he first set eyes upon “the smoke that thunders”. Handmade to resemble a turn of the century riverboat Ra-Ikane is furnished with teak superstructure, brass fittings and club chairs giving guests a taste of Victorian splendour as they cruise gently along the mighty Zambezi River.

Seating is in comfortable club chairs
There is plenty of room to get up and move around during the cruise

High tea, full bar with imported drinks and wines and finger snacks

Departure Time 
Cruise duration is 2 hours

Winter: 1st May to 31st July - departs at 16h00 returns at 18h00.

ZAMBEZI EXPLORER
 The newest, sleekest and largest cruise boat operating on the Zimbabwe side of the Zambezi River, the Zambezi Explorer’s on-board facilities run exclusively on solar energy.

Seating Capacity 
Total of 150 passengers spread across the three decks.
The following seating configuration is a guideline as so much depends on the number of passengers booked on a given day.
Deck 1- 60 passengers
Deck 2 - 60 passengers
Seating is bench seating, bar chairs and stools all with cushions.
Signature Deck - 30 passengers but can go up to 34 if there is a group. Signature seating is in comfortable lounge chairs and sofas.
The toilets are situated on Deck 1.

Decks 1 & 2 - local and premium brand beverages and canapés
Signature Deck - a wider selection of premium beverages and canapés
