Mayan Footprints Package: The Lodge at Big Falls in Belize

The Lodge at Big Falls near Punta Gorda in southern Belize has packages that include not-to-be-missed activities along with the amenities of a family lodge that allow guests to truly enjoy and experience the culture of Toledo.

The Mayan Footprints is a brief, but full, 4-day/3-night adventure:
  • Learn and listen to Florencio Mes, Mayan harpist and instrument maker, shares his gift and deep knowledge of Mayan music history.
  • Visit Lubaantun Mayan site, home of the Crystal Skull. Late classic site with unique architectural features, including miniature ceramic objects found throughout.
  • Swim in the deep bathing pool below the waterfall in Rio Blanco National Park. Excellent photo opps on the cable suspension bridge along the mile and a half jungle loop trail.
  • Hike to the entrance of Blue Creek Cave and swim upstream inside the cave's tall caverns. Adventure accessible to every generation.
  • Experience Miguel Choco’s house and kitchen garden and learn about soil-to-table Organic Cacao Farming. Visit where he grows dozens of species of exotic fruits and vegetables, as well as cacao. Enjoy a home-cooked vegetarian meal and sample the traditional cacao and corn drink.
For a more in-depth experience, consider the 5 day/4 night Toledo Explorer, which includes a visit to Monkey River -- watch out for crocodiles!
