Lodges in Uganda: Clouds Lodge

Uganda has first class, 5 star hotels, lodges and camps, some in very remote regions, offering a true sense of African wilderness. From large to intimate, from tented camps to log cabins and from African bush to rain forest, the lodges and camps in Uganda are as varied at the national parks in which they are situated. These comfortable accommodations all serve delicious international cuisine and offer the perfect locations to sit back and relax with a refreshing drink whilst watching the sunset and reliving moments from your African adventure. Classic Africa Safaris books a wide variety of accommodations throughout Uganda depending on your clients budget, interests and timeline. Our itineraries include mid-level accommodation options, more luxurious or more budget-conscious options are available upon request - your itinerary is fully customizable. The first lodge we'll highlight in our series on lodges in Uganda is the luxurious Clouds Lodge in Bwindi National Park.

High up in the clouds on the Ntkeo Ridge, on the edge of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, the views are breath-taking. In the shadow of 3 volcanoes, looking down into the thick treetop canopy of Bwindi forest and beyond to the golden grasses of the Western Rift Valley, lies Clouds Lodge.

This lodge, a first in Uganda, has been built as a partnership between the Nkuringo Community Development Fund (NCDF), United States Agency for International Development USAID, Wildplaces, Africa Wildlife Foundation through the International Gorilla Conservation Programme. With the ultimate goal of protecting the natural habitat of the mountain gorilla, 'Clouds' will directly benefit the community of Nkuringo who also have a significant stake in the venture.

Ten Stone cottages, fireplaces, soft armchairs, warm duvets, excellent meals made from local produce, good wine, a lush botanical garden, cozy library and sheltered verandas with views to the volcanoes. Mountain biking along the ridge, walks in the forest reserve, visits to the local community village, gorilla tracking.
