South Africa: First Stop - Ellerman House

After departing Seattle Thursday morning, I routed through San Francisco, London Heathrow and Johannesburg before arriving Saturday afternoon in lovely Cape Town. Apparently it was raining earlier this morning, but by the time I landed the skies had cleared and everything is bright and warm. Wonderful day in the Cape.

I was met on arrival and efficiently transferred through town - all of the highlights pointed out en route - to Sea Point and the Ellerman House. What a hidden gem! Ella, the manager, told me that she really feels that Ellerman House is one of Cape Town's best-kept secrets...I agree! The views are amazing, the rooms are classic, fresh and bright. The house is just 10 mins from downtown Cape Town and the waterfront. Close enough to be centrally located and just far enough to feel luxuriously removed.

Lunch was wild field mushroom soup, a tasty salad and local chardonnay. Wonderful and a welcome meal after the last two days in transit. I've spent the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the room and grounds and am heading out to explore the V&A Waterfront before heading to Caveau Wine bar for dinner. Tomorrow a Peninsula tour awaits...more soon!
